LipoSEARCH®
Lipid Profiling and Analyzing Service
Product Basics
Quantitative and qualitative evaluations of lipoproteins are important for detecting the early stages of diseases and for drug development. LipoSEARCH® is a custom lipoprotein profiling and analysis service using a patented gel-filtration HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method.
LipoSEARCH® analyzes the major classes of lipoproteins (CM, VLDL, LDL, HDL) and measures the cholesterol and triglyceride levels of lipoprotein components across 20 subclasses to deliver a complete set of lipid profiling data.
LipoSEARCH® can profile a variety of clinical samples, such as plasma or serum samples from both animals and humans. The service has been used in a broad range of research fields, including lipid metabolism, the development of drugs for lifestyle-related diseases, the development of functional supplemental foods, and clinical studies.
Key Features
- Requires a small amount of serum or plasma sample (minimum: 45μl for humans, 35μl for animals) and can analyze low-concentration samples like culture supernatants and cerebrospinal fluid
- Enables quantitative evaluation of CM and VLDL, previously difficult to analyze, and provides detailed analysis of 20 fractions, including the arteriosclerosis risk marker "small LDL"
- Analyzes lipoprotein "particle size" and "particle number" with high reproducibility
- Suitable for a wide range of species, including mice, rabbits, monkeys, and humans
- Over 550 publications (as of 2023) and widely adopted in non-clinical drug trials, clinical development trials (Phase II, III), and food for specified health use (FOSHU) trials
Technical Information
Gel-filtration HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method (Patented)
LipoSEARCH® utilizes gel permeation chromatography to separate major lipoprotein subclasses (CM, VLDL, LDL, HDL) by particle size. It simultaneously measures total cholesterol (TC) and triglycerides (TG) concentrations, providing detailed chromatograms for each. Cholesterol and TG levels are determined through component peak analysis using Gaussian curve fitting. Particle sizes are calculated based on retention times. LipoSEARCH® offers high reproducibility and linearity in lipid determinations, with strong correlation to ultracentrifugation, the gold standard in lipid analysis, while requiring smaller sample sizes and less labor time.
Usage
Widely used in drug discovery, functional food development, and clinical research in the areas of lipid metabolism and lifestyle-related diseases.
